Ok, I just heard about this service called Amazon RDS which is Amazon’s way of providing MySQL database services in a way that’s conceptually similar to their S3 file service.

What I really want to know is if it’s going to be possible to use RDS as the back end for Wordpress blogs.

So for you techies who see this post:  Have you yet figured out how to even create a mySQL DB under RDS?  I’ve not yet figured it out.  I use S3 all of the time, but I use the firefox plugin that makes it S3 somewhat FTP-like.

But I’ve not yet found such a tool for RDS.

I guess I really have 3 questions:

  1. How do you create an RDS database in the first place?
  2. How do you transfer an existing mySQL DB into an RDS mySQL?
  3. Will RDS mySQL work as the data storage mechanism for wordpress blogs?

If you know the answer to any or all of these, *please* let me know!

Thanks a million.
