Cordell and Cordell: A “Partner” You Better Avoid…
I was a client of Cordell and Cordell for several months in 2007. Having a very money-hungry ex-wife, I frequently found myself involved in litigation. Based on the aggressive advertising done by Cordell and Cordell, I decided to give them a try.
That was a huge mistake.
Nearly ten thousand dollars in legal fees later, the following things happened:
- My attorney, Ben Porter, staved off my appearance at a court-mandated mediation by recommending that I pay 100% of the money requested by my ex-wife, even though there was clear documentation that far less was owed
- There were multiple stretches of many weeks where there was positively nothing going on with my ex-wife. Despite this, my billing showed regular “consultations” that Mr. Porter held with other attorneys in his firm regarding my case. Of course, I was billed for the time of both attorneys and was never told what these “consultations” concerned.
- Cordell and Cordell charged me for work on a pre-nuptial agreement. I was considering a new marriage at the time and simply asked what was involved in such an agreement. Mr. Porter and Cordell and Cordell took my question as authorization to draft such an agreement, and billed me as such. Not only did I never ask for this work to be done, but the documents that Cordell and Cordell billed me for were never provided to me.
When I’d had enough of the absolute foolishness of Cordell and Cordell, I contacted them and discovered that I had an escrow balance of a little over $800. I requested that all work on my case be terminated immediately. And of course, I’ve been harassed by them ever since because they used up the entire remaining $800 plus are trying to bill me for several hundred more.
I’ll never pay it. I don’t owe it and will not succumb to their foolish demands.
Furthermore, I happen to be an expert - one of the worlds foremost - in search engine optimization and listings. I can assure you that if their crap doesn’t stop right away, I will certainly displace them in the search engine for their own name, and tell all of their potential clients exactly what has happened to me. And I’ll do it by showing video of all of the documentation for my claims.
I’m sick of it. Attorneys are the scum of the earth, and divorce attorneys are the scum of the scum of the earth. Especially Cordell and Cordell.
